How is a bicycle wheel made?

Part-I

Have you ever wondered how a two-wheeler bicycle works? How its wheels are designed? Today in this blog we are going to answer such questions. Then you should know that-
A bicycle producing company sole priority is to design a light, strong and an efficient wheel for a smooth ride of the cyclist. From the last few decades though, the designs of the wheels have not much changed but they are now designed, made, built, improved, and evolved to offer high performance along with comfort at the manageable rates.  This entire process is complex as it involves professionals, multiple resources, intellectuals of high companies. Yet it can be divided into different stages.

1.       The Design Period

Designing a bicycle wheel is not a child’s play. How can you design something when you have never experienced it? Thus it requires years of riding experience before making a bicycle wheel. Things like how the stiff a wheel should be balanced with weight, aerodynamics, and durable requirements are essential. Once the general direction of the wheel design is extracted, it is drawn up in the computer designed program such as Solid works where the wheel is tested to acquire weight, aerodynamics, and strain data to see whether the wheel is well designed or not.

2.       Building and Examining a Prototype

When once the design of the wheel has been established and found to be effective, a CNC’d (Computerized Numerical Control) is conducted it is basically a drill-bit that is directed by the computer program so as to get a precisely carved medium, the rim is cut out of the aluminum. With the help of spokes, the mount of the rim is drilled in the spoke holes. A tire is the installed to create a wheel that has the same aerodynamics what the actual wheel will have.
